Personalized Letters

Hello Everyone! So I just moved into a new apartment and I've been super busy trying to make it home. I've decided that I wanted to do a picture wall and I wanted to add some accents in the mix as well, I know what you're thinking...all those holes in the wall. I would invest in those removable hooks if they weren't so expensive. Well, this is probably the cheapest and easiest project I have ever attempted. It literally costed $5 bucks with a 50% coupons from Joanna's Fabric.

Shopping List:

-Wooden Letters
-Elmer's tacky glue
-Paint
-Scrapbook paper

Lets begin!

 I'd recommend that you paint the sides of the wooden letter. I choose a yellow color, because it was what I had on hand. The wooden letters that I picked up were already painted white, so that was a plus for me.

Once the paint has dried,(this paint dries in like 10 mins. Its made by Valspar. I just love their products), it's time apply glue to the forward facing side of the letter. I don't have any fancy brushes, so I just used some regular old paint brushes I had from when I was in high school. They worked amazingly. Apply a generous amount of glue to the letter, but be careful to not let it seep over the edges. Using the brush, try to evenly distribute the glue over the body of the letter. Once thats completed, lay the scrapbook paper of your choice on a flat surface and adhere the letter to it. Try to apply a bit of pressure to help the glue and paper stick together. Turn the letter over and start smoothing out the surface to prevent bubbles (I really didn't have a problem with bubbles). Once thats completed, I would advise you to let the glue dry for an hour.Aww the waiting game...

After drying for an hour, it's time to get rid of the excess paper, the process requires patience and a sharp craft knife, neither of which I have :). I used a box cutter and below you can see the pictures of the final product. Pretty darn neat for someone with no patience, if you ask me :).
